UNDER $3 DRINKING ON DIVISADERO

We've long been hip to this 'hood they call "Nopa", but more locally is known simply as "Divis" (that's "Div-eez", ok?). We've watched it go from a handful of joints back in the day, to now more than 10 (count 'em, 10!) places where you can get drinks for under $3. Happy hours are long and extend beyond the Monday thru Friday thing, because let's face it, some of us don't do 9 to 5 and need cheap drinks, too. (In fact, we need them more than you do).

So, without further ado, let us link you to Ramona Emerson's Citysearch guide to "Under $3 Drinking on Divisadero".

$2 DRINKS AT AMBASSADOR HOTEL TONIGHT

Drinks in the Tenderloin ought to be $2 apiece. And they are -- at least on Tuesday nights at the Ambassador Hotel, 673 Geary between Jones & Leavenworth. Great link to the Ambassador lounge website here. Turn down sound if you are at work -- or not a Sinatra fan, which kinda sets the mood.

And, btw -- we love the homemade flyers we've seen around town touting this $2 Tuesday special. Have you seen 'em? They say:

DON'T RENAME THIRD STREET

There's been a movement to rename Third Street out in Bayview/Hunter's Point "Willie Brown Way" or something of that equivalent. We joined a Facebook group to stop it. And, because of that we got invited to a Happy Hour at the Speakeasy Brewery tonight to get our official 12" x 3" bumper sticker: "3RD ST"
Speakeasy Brewery (Keeping it 3RD, Keeping it Local)
1195 Evans Ave, enter on Keith
On right now, 'til 8 pm tonight. Show up, get a happy hour special beer and look for the guy with the "3RD ST" bumper stickers on his bag and jacket to get your sticker and save an iconic street name of San Francisco.

FLY BAR SECOND LOCATION GRAND OPENING

If you've trucked up and down the Divisadero Corridor anytime over the past 10 years, whether for a concert at the Independent or to get your car washed, you've seen the purple and orange "Fly" sign outside the bar on the corner of Divis and Fulton. Maybe you've even stopped in for the Sake and Soju cocktails and pizzas and other bites and chilled for awhile inside the purple and orange vibe. It's a cool place and we love it.

So, as fans of the original Fly Bar, we need a damn good reason to check out the new second local location now open in the space near Polk Gulch formerly known as Brick. How 'bout two reasons?

Full liquor license and FREE video games.

That's right they've got a vintage video game section all set up and you don't need to bring those precious quarters that are so much better suited to feed meters and laundromats. Meanwhile, they've got $7 Pisco Sours, rum drinks, gin concoctions and things with vodka -- the real deal.

The New Fly Bar is at 1085 Sutter St. (@ Larkin). The old one is still at 762 Divisadero (@Fulton).

$1 OYSTERS AND $3.50 PINTS AT HOG ISLAND HAPPY HOUR

Gorgeous and sunny days in San Francisco are few and far between -- and in our opinion, overrated.

Hog Island Oyster Company

Fog or shine, they fill up fast. But here's the good news -- so will you!

MORTY'S DELI - DAILY SPECIALS

We heard about Morty's Delicatessen after the fact. On Tuesdays, you can get a $7 Reuben sandwich and a PBR -- for lunch. And, man were we bummed, having eaten instead a couple of rye crisps and some watered down tuna.

But then we found out that this Morty guy -- located at 280 Golden Gate Ave. @ Hyde has specials every day. And while we'll have to wait 'til next Tuesday to get the deal on the Reuben and the PBR -- today he's got Quite Possibly the Best Mac & Cheese in town, on Thursdays it's Mama Mia Spaghetti Day (and $2.95 glasses of Merlot). Then there's Fish Fry Fridays (again with $2.95 glasses of wine), $2 Blue Moons, FREE fried clams and jazz on Monday nights -- we mean, really. What took us so long to find this joint that says they offer "East Coast Soul and West Coast Style"? We're on our way there now!

Your mom always said you had to eat your dinner before you could have dessert. But what do you do when you head to Candybar, the West Addy's hot-a-licious dessert bar, just steps off the Divisadero Corridor (1335 Fulton) and dessert is the main course?

BYOD -- that's bring your own dinner!
