Mama Calizo's Voice Factory, 1519 Mission @ 11th St. $20 advance, $25 at the door. Advance tickets available thru TicketWeb -- and they're a good idea. These shows sell out fast, honey.

SF BUFFOONS DO "THE HASHEESH EATER"

A psychedelic drama in old San Francisco, "The Hasheesh Eater" is a one-act stage play with six actors and a fiddler.

Presented by the SF Buffoons, "The Hasheesh Eater" takes you back to San Francisco in 1863, through the dark eyes of Victorian fiend and best-selling author Fitz Hugh Ludlow. It conjures one "elevated" evening on the dirt streets of a distant, bohemian boomtown.

Two final performances coming up for the Halloween weekend, Friday October 30 and Saturday October 31 at Mama Calizo's Voice Factory, 1519 Mission St., between Van Ness and 11th.

Tix are $10-$20. Click here for more deets.

Gonzo noir novelist/scriptwriter Jerry Stahl reads from his new novel, Pain Killers, tonight at Amnesia, 853 Valencia St., 7 pm, FREE.

But this ain't gonna be your grandmother's reading and book signing -- as if a gonzo noir writer could be capable of such a thing. The evening is also going to feature a special appearance by the The Improv Group, Crisis Hopkins performing a scene from Stahl's memoir, Permanent Midnight, music by Yellow Dress and a reading by author Bucky Sinister. And it's all FREE.
