A long time ago, before spell checkers we used to edit and proofread hard copy the hard way -- by actually reading it and marking it up for changes with a red pencil. Step back in time (to the '60s, '70s and early '80s) with Charles Gute’s exhibition The Corrections which mines the overlapping terrain between his longtime conceptual art practice and his day job as a freelance editor of art publications. Gute takes publishers' proofs from art books and removes all content except for his own proofreader’s notations, leaving abstract, colorful constellations of marks that resonate with their original subject matter in unpredictable and sometimes humorous ways. Ready, stet, go! This exhibit ends on Saturday.
