FAIR TRADE S'MORES HAPPY HOUR AT GOLDEN GATE PARK

Wheeeeeeee! Activism can be fun! And only-in-San-Francisco can you find activism + s'mores = a Happy Hour. That's right. Meet up tonight for the Global Exchange Fair Trade S'mores Happy Hour at the Speedway in Golden Gate Park. 6 pm - but you should get there earlier if you want FREE Fair Trade chocolate for your s'mores.

Bring your own graham crackers, marshmallows, something to roast marshmallows on (i.e., sticks, wire hangers), Fair Trade chocolate (which you can find at stores like Global Exchange, Bi-rite, Rainbow Grocery, etc.) Bring your kids and musical instruments. Leave the alcohol at home (it's not allowed in the park).

And remember, tonight's event is all about the fact that many cocoa farmers live in grinding poverty. Help cocoa farming communities gain access to education, health care and humane working conditions by eating Fair Trade s'mores!

  1. This is an awesome idea, there is no way to spread fairtrade awareness like making tasty sweets. Endangered Species Chocolate deals with the issue of cocoa farmers living in poverty everyday. That's why we practice our own brand of fairtrade, we call it ethical trade. This means we do more than just pay a fair market price for our cocoa, but we are actively working to improve the living conditions for cocoa farmers and their families. We do this by installing water pumps and filtration systems, as well as donating school and medical supplies. Currently (08/29/09) we have a team on the ground in Ecuador working with a co-op to decided what they need to best improve their living conditions. Additionally, it is our mission to donate 10% of our annual net profits to charities that support species, habitat and humanity. This year we have teamed up with the African Wildlife Federation and the Ocean Conservancy. Hey, have a great time tonight guys stay safe and remember...Savor Chocolate. Save Our Planet.
