Southern Exposure hosts its 9th annual Monster Drawing Rally tonight, February 27, starting at 6 pm at the Verdi Club in Potrero Hill (2424 Mariposa St. btwn. New Hampshire and Potrero).
$5 donation at the door gets you in and a chance to watch 130 local artists draw monsters -- using just the basics -- paper, pens, pencils, charcoal and ink. They do it in shifts -- about 30 artists an hour. Finished products go for sale starting at $60 and all funds raised go to support Southern Exposure's Exhibitions and Artists in Education Programs. It's a unique opportunity to watch art being created -- and to buy it, in some cases -- literally before the ink dries.
Music all night long by Bo Derelict. If you get hungry, the El Tonayense taco truck will be parked right outside. The event is also sponsored by Trumer Brauerei Berkeley, Bridgeport Brewery, and Nectar Ales -- so, yes, there will be booze. Click here for more info.
