Mission Street Food has moved into the Lung Shan Restaurant at 2234 Mission St. and now serves food on Thursdays and Saturdays. Opens at 6 pm, no reservations, cash only and $5 corkage fee if you BYOB.
Tonight's dinner will be cooked by Marin County chef John Farais who specializes in the history, taste and promotion of indigenous cuisines of the Americas. Sample menu:
The most expensive thing on the menu is just $11 -- and those are the mussels in a black walnut broth served with a winter root gratin, sea plam and pine nuts. Ok, I'm salivating now -- are you?
- Rabbit rillette (traditional California small game) --rabbit, amaranth, mesquite toasted hazelnuts served with acorn tortillas -- $7
- Popped wild rice with pinenuts and cranberres -- $3
- Acorn soup with foraged mushrooms, salmon optional --$3.5 (cup); $6 (bowl)
